Job summary

Jobtailor in Imperial, CA seeks a Medical Assistant with strong clinical and operations skills to support patient care and daily clinic workflows. You will handle patient registration, insurance verification, point-of-care testing, and assist with exams while contributing to KPI tracking and QA/QC tasks.

This role requires multitasking, accuracy, and excellent communication in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates have MA training, BLS, and familiarity with EHR, CPOE, and MS Office;

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience under a licensed healthcare supervisor within the last 3 years preferred.
  • CPOE must be obtained within 2 weeks of hire if Medical Assistant Certification is not obtained upon hire
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience
  • 5+ years of experience or (medical) military experience in lieu of required certifications listed below
  • Knowledge of medical terminology strongly preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA or ARC required at time of hire
  • Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) certification for order entry required within two weeks of start date and must be kept active in lieu of MA certification within the first 15 months of hire
  • Must pass MVR background check
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Social perceptiveness and service oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support team members and business operations
  • Ensure day-to-day operations, including cash deposits, ordering, inventory management, and call backs, are completed
  • Conduct monthly inventory and approve orders
  • Assist the Regional Operations Manager in resolving patient concerns
  • Provide weekly oversight of calibrator calls
  • Drive KPIs and strategic initiatives, including NPS, LWOBs, GoReg, registration errors, conversion pay, and quality metrics
  • Conduct site walk-throughs
  • Assist with patient rushes and fill open shifts or call-outs as needed
  • Assist with MOD duties during leadership meetings, conference calls, leadership events, and weekends
  • Conduct performance reviews and assist in training and assessing team members
  • Participate in interviewing and provide feedback on new-hire selection
  • Conduct patient registration, verify insurance and eligibility, process co-pays, and schedule appointments
  • Coordinate provider referrals to assigned specialists
  • Answer patient questions and keep patients informed of their status
  • Inform technical staff of patient flow
  • Prepare patients for examinations and record medical histories
  • Perform preliminary physical tests and escalate critical cases to providers
  • Conduct point-of-care testing, including flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, and HCG
  • Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception areas
  • Maintain supply inventory, check expiration dates, and complete order sheets
  • Maintain medical records and scan charts into patient files
  • Answer phone calls and sort incoming and outgoing postal correspondence
  • Conduct courtesy follow-up calls
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including cashing out and securing the building
  • Perform and document equipment controls and calibration; maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets
  • Partner with the Market PBP to issue DANs/PIPs according to policy
  • Assist the Market Specialist with call-out management
  • Perform other duties as assigned
