Job summary

John Deere in East Moline, IL is seeking a Team Leader to oversee Harvester Works operations. You will manage performance, lead safety and Lean initiatives, and ensure staff has training and tools to excel.

This onsite role emphasizes teamwork, problem-solving, and proactive leadership within a union environment. The ideal candidate has prior production leadership experience, strong communication, and the ability to drive improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that assigned personnel have appropriate training, work instruction, and tooling to successfully execute their jobs.
• Lead safety through regular safety communications, driving engagement in CI Safety and Ergonomic Risk Assessment process and prompt near miss reporting with strong corrective actions.
• Monitor Control Plans, troubleshoot workmanship problems, and supervise production activities to meet or exceed quality requirements.
• Drive department-level support of factory goals regarding 5S, Continuous Improvement, manpower planning, and operating budgets.

Your Responsibilities

As a Team Leader for Harvester Works located in East Moline, IL, you will:

• Manage and monitor individual and department performance on safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency and take corrective action including discipline as needed.


• Lead employee engagement activities while establishing a positive employee environment through communications, feedback, and overall guidance.


• Ensure that assigned personnel have appropriate training, work instruction, and tooling to successfully execute their jobs.


• Lead safety through regular safety communications, driving engagement in the CI Safety and Ergonomic Risk Assessment process and prompting near miss reporting with a focus on quick, thorough safety corrective actions.


• Monitor Control Plans, troubleshoot workmanship problems, and generally supervise production activities to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed all established quality requirements.


• Drive department-level support of factory goals regarding 5S implementation, Continuous Improvement, manpower planning, and operating budgets.

• Ability to conduct crucial conversations, including ability to enforce company policies, practices, procedures and work rules


• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and variable shifts as business needs


• Experience communicating across functions, such as: supply management, engineering, operations, and human resources or labor relations

What Makes You Stand Out

• 1 or more years of experience with production control systems, preferably within John Deere


• 1 or more years of experience in a leadership role in a union environment


• Two (2) or more years of experience with shop floor manufacturing and incentive pay systems (such as CIPP)


• Cross-functional work experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Material Control, or Supply Management


• Demonstrated experience utilizing lean manufacturing techniques to drive business improvements


• Possess a good working knowledge of the appropriate operating and information systems used in Operations (Word, Excel, SAP, SharePoint, PowerBI)

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology, Operations, Business/Management, or Supply Management or equivalent experience
