Job summary

Abraxas Youth & Family Services seeks a Team Leader to work directly with adolescents in a residential mental health setting. You will lead a direct-care team, implement daily routines, and support youth development with compassionate, consistent supervision.

This full-time role involves coordinating staff coverage, ensuring safety and confidentiality, and promoting the organization’s Seven Key Principles of care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years in human services.
  • Colorado Driver's License required.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older; pre-employment drug/alcohol screening; background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provides people security by engaging clients in experiential learning and growth activities and aligns client goals with daily interactions.
  • Serves as shift leader to ensure proper staff coverage and monitors adherence to routines, headcount, and meal counts.
  • Ensures program and facility safety systems and building security are maintained.
  • Communicates training needs to the training department, including new hire orientation and recertification for direct care staff.
  • Mentors employees on company policies, conducts themselves as a role model, and supports the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Leads and documents various groups or meetings.
  • Ensures the unit has adequate supplies including hygiene and cleaning products.
  • Administers medication or supervises self-administration when necessary.

What You'll Do

As a Team Leader, you will work directly with Adolescents in a residential mental health setting. Start a career that makes a difference in people's lives! This position provides direct service to a diverse population of youths.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Provides people security by engaging clients in experimental learning/growth activities. Integrates client goals and objectives into daily interactions.
  • Serves as shift leader to ensure proper staff coverage. Monitors staff member adherence to structured daily routines, headcount, and meal counts.
  • Assures program/facility safety systems and building security and evaluates systems.
  • Evaluates and communicates with training department the training needs to include new hire orientation and recertification training of direct care staff members.
  • Implements and mentors’ employees regarding the company's policies on professional expectations, code of conduct and other practices and procedures, serves as a role model for clients and employees and supports the company's mission, goals and objectives.
  • Facilitates and documents various groups or meetings.
  • Ensures the unit has adequate supplies including hygiene products and cleaning supplies.
  • Administers medication or supervises self-administration of medication when necessary.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information related to client information.
  • Develops high performing teams utilizing leadership skills and the 7 key principles of care.
  • Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of two-years experience in the human services field OR
  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be able to pass physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
  • Must pass criminal background check investigation
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required.
