Job summary

Nelson Global Products Inc. is seeking a Team Lead to supervise the welding department, coordinate line start-ups, and ensure a safe, clean, and productive work environment. You will mentor staff, sign off on first piece inspections, and drive continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.

You will balance daily resources, manage staffing, and ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and safety standards and collaborating with HR and the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Supervisory or lead experience preferred.
• 1 year manufacturing/production experience preferred.
• Ability to pass a weld certification test.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the department; support the Welding Supervisor.
• Balance daily resources and staffing; set up work cells.
• Sign off on 1st piece inspection and start-up lines every morning.
• Ensure a safe, clean working environment and meet production schedules.
• Maintain inventory, tools, and material flow on the line.
• Record metrics, maintain metric boards, and complete paperwork.
• Support CI/Lean initiatives (5S) and HR cooperation.

Monday - Thursday 5:00am - 3:30pm with overtime requirements on Friday.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Team Lead, leads and supervises the department, while supporting the Welding Supervisor. They make decisions on changes in production schedules and quality issues when they arise. They must have the ability to ensure a safe and clean working environment, as well as the ability to work on production assignments.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Responsible for line safety/ implementing safety improvements.
• Assist the supervisor with daily resource balancing and staffing.
• Responsible for setting up work cells and signing off on 1 st piece inspection
• Start-up lines each morning/ lead stretching and topic bucket
• Ensure safe and clean working environment.
• Work on-line and fill in for resource gaps as needed
• Maintain adequate and orderly inventory, as well as ensuring materials and tooling are brought to and stocked on the line
• Promote quality, productivity, and a positive environment for employees.
• Promote employee satisfaction and encourage all employees to excel.
• Responsible for recording metrics and maintaining metric boards
• Complete timely and accurate paperwork
• Entering maintenance work orders
• Responsible for meeting production schedules, employees training and documentation, safety program, and addressing employee concerns while working with HR and supervisor.
• Supporting CI/Lean Initiatives (5S)
• Must have ability to gain and retain fork lift certification
• Promoting quality that meets and exceeds customer expectations
• First Aid/CPR Recommended
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Previous supervisory or Lead experience preferred
• 1 year of manufacturing or production experience is preferred.
• Ability to pass a weld certification test

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

In terms of a normal work day: Continuously (up to 100%), Frequently (up to 66%), Occasionally (up to 33%),
