Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking a Trade Maintenance Mechanic III within Facilities Operations. The role leads a crew, directs maintenance tasks, and ensures safety and quality across projects on campus. Core hours are M-F 7:00 am to 3:00 pm with additional hours as needed.

You will mentor apprentices, review blueprints, and coordinate materials while preserving the original project scope and cost controls. WVU emphasizes work-life balance and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years general trades maintenance experience or equivalent.
• Supervisory/leadership experience required.
• Ability to read prints and blueprints.
• Valid driver’s license or equivalent driving eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor crew, assign tasks and ensure quality and timeliness.
• Troubleshoot equipment and guide repairs to correct faults.
• Coordinate schedules and purchase needed materials.
• Maintain safety procedures and follow SOPs across sites.
• Prepare progress reports and update scope/cost estimates.
