Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking a Trade Maintenance Mechanic III to lead maintenance crews across multiple craft disciplines in the Morgantown campus. You’ll supervise journeymen, trades workers, and apprentices, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time project completion.

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm with additional hours as needed. The role emphasizes leadership, training, and collaboration with Operations Manager and supervisors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in supervision or leadership, or formal training in supervision.
• Qualified candidates have 2+ years in building maintenance or related craft trades.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate assigned crews; assign work and monitor quality and timeliness.
• Troubleshoot equipment, guide troubleshooting, and identify faults.
• Mentor apprentices and manage training schedules.
• Coordinate schedules, materials, inventories, and safety practices.
• Prepare cost estimates and maintain project documentation.
• Read blueprints, review prints, and assist in project design.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and PPE usage.
