Laars Heating Systems based in Rochester, NH is seeking a Service Parts Lead who will play a critical role in ensuring the efficiency of Laars Heating Systems' spare parts operations. This position combines leadership, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize service part availability, streamline operations, enhance customer satisfaction, and drive profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience & Team Leadership
- Lead a cross-functional team to provide exceptional customer service, supporting parts identification (ID), availability, and pricing.
- Conduct performance reviews, set goals, track employee progress and provide regular training to the Parts ID team.
- Update management on part-related trends and issues.
- Prioritize daily service parts orders.
- Expedite the most urgent orders through the factory.
- Monitor phone and email traffic; generate regular reports to identify trends and opportunities.
- Train Representatives on parts ID best practices and portal usage; identify and address underperformance.
- Optimize inventory across warehouses, field stock, and customer locations to improve nationwide availability.
- Streamline and update existing service part kits.
- Monitor and manage service part inventory.
- Manage, track, and minimize expedited freight costs.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Coordinate with Purchasing to secure parts for seasonal demand, even when exceeding max inventory levels.
- Partner with Quality Control to monitor part failure rates and improve overall product quality.
- Collaborate with Production and Planning to improve fulfillment efficiency for service part orders.
- Work across departments to identify and reduce SMOB (slow-moving or obsolete inventory).
- Review and manage part obsolescence requests; plan "last-time buys" for discontinued vendor parts.
- Align with Product Management on parts pricing strategies, recommended spare parts lists, and part kit configuration.
Logistics & Supply Chain Management
- Define safety stock levels and recommend procurement strategies to ensure parts availability.
- Improve processes related to spare parts logistics and sales.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Science, or a related field.
- Associate’s degree in Science or a technical discipline may be considered with equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in customer service, sales, supply chain operations, with strong proficiency in ERP systems and direct customer interaction.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, Bill of Materials (BOM) management, and inventory control is highly desirable.
Skills
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP systems is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

- Off-Season: Focus shifts to strategic planning, process improvement, and long-term optimization.
