Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off the Eskenazi Health downtown campus, as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary:

Provides coordination for the labs while collaborating with the charge nurse and radiologic technologists. The role involves optimizing patient care by planning ahead for cases, ensuring proper equipment and supplies, and coordinating care effectively.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinates all aspects of the specified service line for a high-acuity patient population of all ages within the MIPS department.
  2. Performs all functions of a Staff Nurse II.
  3. Functions independently as a practitioner, demonstrating superior problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
  4. Coordinates specialty equipment and supplies for procedures by reviewing the schedule in advance and collaborating with vendors, Nurse Coordinators, and Rad Techs.
  5. Communicates effectively with schedulers, managers, charge nurses, material managers, biomed, and staff regarding special needs for procedures.
  6. Develops a core curriculum with the Clinical Educator for the Service Line and oversees orientation for new staff.
  7. Assists in assigning daily tasks to ensure competent staff are assigned to procedures within the Service Line/Lab suite.
  8. Serves as a resource to all employees for the Service Line, available by pager or phone for questions.
Job Requirements:
  • Advanced nursing skills in the specified Service Line.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented approach.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Current Indiana RN license.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice in an MIPS setting.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Certifications such as CCRN, RCES, CRN, CV-BC are strongly encouraged.
