Job Role Summary

Provides coordination for the labs while working in collaboration with the charge nurse and rad techs. Optimizes patient care by anticipating schedules, preparing for cases, and ensuring proper equipment, supplies, and care coordination.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Coordinates all aspects of the specified service line of care for a similar patient population of high acuity patients of all ages within the MIPS department.
  • Performs all functions of a Staff Nurse II.
  • Works independently as a practitioner, demonstrating problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
  • Prepares specialty equipment and supplies for procedures by reviewing the schedule in advance and collaborating with vendors, Nurse Coordinator, and Rad Techs.
  • Communicates effectively with schedulers, managers, charge nurses, materials, biomed, and staff regarding special needs for procedures.
  • Develops a core curriculum with the Clinical Educator for the Service Line and oversees orientation of new staff.
  • Assists in daily assignments with the charge nurse to ensure competent staffing for procedures.
  • Serves as a resource for employees within the Service Line and is accessible via pager/phone for questions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice in an MIPS setting.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Certifications such as CCRN, RCES, CRN, CV-BC are strongly encouraged.
