The Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) within Surgical Services at Henry Ford Jackson is a specialized, high-acuity surgical environment focused on the care of cardiac and vascular patients in a Level II Trauma setting. The team supports a wide range of complex procedures, including open vascular, endovascular, CABG, and valve surgeries, operating under a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. CVOR nurses function primarily as circulating nurses, coordinating all aspects of patient care during procedures—maintaining the sterile field, supporting the surgical and anesthesia teams, monitoring patient status, and ensuring readiness of equipment and supplies in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
The department is a close-knit team of approximately 12 members who operate with a strong sense of collaboration and mutual support, creating a "family-like" culture where teamwork, anticipation, and accountability are essential. Staff receive a structured 3–6-month orientation tailored to their experience level. This unit is ideal for experienced nurses seeking advanced surgical expertise in a highly specialized field while working in a supportive, team-driven environment.
Provides clinical leadership in the coordination and delivery of high-quality, compassionate patient care in the cardiovascular operating room environment. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document comprehensive care and patient/family education. As a Team Lead RN-OR Specialty Services, you will coordinate and oversee the activities of the operating room staff, ensuring seamless operations and exceptional patient care. You will act as a liaison between surgeons, staff, and management, providing guidance and resolving issues related to procedures and surgeon preferences. Your leadership will be vital in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of our surgical services.
