Shield HealthCare in Valencia, CA is seeking a Purchasing Team Lead to optimize the procurement of medical supplies and equipment. The role blends team leadership with vendor management, inventory control, and compliance to support efficient operations.

You will supervise daily tasks, implement training plans, monitor KPIs, and partner with warehouses to maintain stock levels and reduce waste while driving cost savings. The position reports to the Director and supports department workflows.

Qualifications

• 3 years purchasing experience required; prior lead experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily tasks of the purchasing team, including order processing and inventory replenishment.
• Coordinate workload and ensure critical items are acquired and administrative tasks completed efficiently.
• Develop and implement training plans to improve performance and ordering accuracy.
• Establish clear performance expectations and monitor KPIs to align with company goals.
• Work with warehouses to manage inventory levels, reduce waste, and avoid stock shortages of critical medical supplies.
• Uphold procurement policies that comply with healthcare regulations and patient safety.
• Analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities via bulk purchasing and GPOs.
• Lead continuous improvement projects to streamline purchasing workflows.
• Resolve backorder issues, delivery delays, and product quality problems affecting patients.
• Generate reports on procurement performance, cost savings, and budget adherence.
• Assist with training of new personnel in all duties.
• Miscellaneous projects as assigned by Director.

Shield HealthCare is looking for a Purchasing Team Lead in our Valencia, CA office. The Team Lead is accountable for optimizing the procurement process to ensure the prompt, cost-effective, and efficient flow of medical supplies and equipment. This requires balancing team leadership and strategy with vendor management, inventory control, and compliance. In addition, the position will aid the Director with daily tasks and department workflow as assigned/needed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee and coordinate the daily tasks of the purchasing team, including order processing, inventory replenishment, and invoice resolution.
• Assign tasks and monitor the team's workload to ensure critical items are acquired and administrative tasks are completed efficiently.
• Develop and implement training plans for team members to improve performance, enhance skills, and ensure accuracy in ordering.
• Establish clear performance expectations and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to align the team with company goals.
• Work with warehouses and receiving teams to manage inventory levels, reduce waste, and avoid stock shortages of critical medical supplies.
• Uphold and enforce procurement policies and procedures that comply with healthcare industry regulations, ethical standards, and patient safety requirements.
• Analyze procurement data to find opportunities for cost savings through methods like bulk purchasing, contract consolidation, and leveraging group purchasing organizations (GPOs).
• Lead continuous improvement projects using methodologies to streamline purchasing workflows and increase overall efficiency.
• Resolve backorder issues, delivery delays, and product quality problems that may impact patients receiving care at home.
• Generate reports and dashboards on procurement performance metrics, cost savings, and budget adherence for review by leadership.
• Assist with training of new personnel in all aspects of job responsibilities.
• Miscellaneous projects as assigned by Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3 years purchasing experience required - Prior Lead experience is preferred.
• 4-year College Degree preferred
• Multi-task ability
• Analytical thinker and ability to solve problems.
• Leadership capabilities with the ability to make proper decisions/judgment calls.
• Computer literate (excel, Epicor)
• Inventory Management experience.
• Must be meticulous, accurate, organized, and flexible with excellent people skills and ability to work independently

The posted range for this position is $28-35/hour which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay withing the posted range including education, prior experience, training, current skills, certifications, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.
