Position Purpose

Serves as Lead Coordinator providing guidance and support for Trinity Health Southeast Michigan Medical Staff Services (MSS), including locations in Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Livingston, Livonia, and Oakland. Provides support to medical staff, administrative leadership, and medical staff committees concerning appointments, compliance, bylaws, rules, regulations, and policies. Ensures the effectiveness and integrity of medical staff programs, including credentialing, privileging, and peer review, through audits and data analysis. Coordinates crossover providers at TH SEMI facilities to maintain alignment and efficiency. Assists MSS Managers with daily operations, ensuring priorities are met and work is completed timely. Contributes to hiring, performance planning, and reviews.

Additional Position Purpose

This role leads the SEMI MSS team in credentialing, privileging, and peer review processes, ensuring compliance with policies and standards, managing databases, facilitating surveys, and driving process improvements.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Certifications
  • Associate’s degree in healthcare or business administration; Bachelor's preferred. Equivalent experience may suffice.
  • At least 3 years of healthcare administrative experience, with knowledge of accreditation standards and medical terminology. Experience in medical staff services preferred. Familiarity with PDCA, Lean, or Six Sigma is a plus.
  • Certifications like CPMSM or CPCS are preferred but not required.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Develops and improves credentialing and peer review processes.
  • Supervises MSS colleagues and maintains credentialing programs to ensure accreditation.
  • Builds relationships with physicians and stakeholders, resolving conflicts and improving communication.
  • Develops policies, interprets regulations, and ensures compliance.
  • Maintains guidelines for credentialing and privileging, owns FPPE process, and ensures confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Leads training on credentialing software and manages high-level medical staff committees and meetings.
  • Identifies workflow improvements, tracks performance metrics, and ensures operational integrity.
  • Adheres to Trinity Health’s compliance and ethical standards.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership ability to educate and challenge existing processes.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and knowledge of accreditation standards.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work independently.
  • Experience with MSOW, MPS, and familiarity with Midas/Statit preferred.
