Job summary

Schaeffler Motion Tech US is seeking a Group Leader for Industrial Engineering to steer the production system for assigned areas. You will lead SMT engineering, drive process improvements, mentor engineers, and ensure capacity alignment with budgets and investments.

Ideal candidates have automotive experience, strong root cause analysis skills, and a track record of leading technical teams in manufacturing environments. This role requires U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (ABET-accredited preferred).
• 2+ years of experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience with MES systems, data analytics, or automation initiatives.
• Background in automotive industries.
• Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Define measures and ensure their implementation to achieve high productivity of production processes.
• Lead engineering processes and contribute to strategic decisions.
• Contribute to development of the engineering strategy within the core field.
• Steer alignment of capacity demand, budget and investment projects.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of SMT Process Engineers.
• Assign priorities, balance workloads and ensure coverage for production, NPI, and improvements.
• Conduct performance reviews, goal setting and coaching aligned with objectives.
• Drive improvements in FPY, scrap, rework, and throughput across SMT lines.
• Track and report key process metrics to management.

Your Responsibilities

• Define measures and ensure their implementation to achieve high productivity of the company's core and support production processes.
• Lead crucial engineering processes and contribute to strategic decisions.
• Contribute to the development of the engineering strategy within a core organizational field.
• Steer alignment of capacity demand, budget and investment projects.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of SMT Process Engineers to achieve operational and professional growth goals.
• Assign priorities, balance workloads, and ensure adequate coverage for production, NPI, and improvement activities.
• Conduct performance reviews, goal setting, and coaching aligned with organizational objectives.
• Drive improvements in First Pass Yield (FPY), scrap, rework, and throughput across SMT lines.
• Track and report key process metrics to management.

Your Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering related field.
• 2+ years of experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis and problem‑solving methodologies.
• Experience with MES systems, data analytics, or automation initiatives.
• Background in automotive industries.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment visa or other sponsorship.

Preferred

• 3+ years of experience in SMT manufacturing or electronics assembly.
• Strong knowledge of SMT processes, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to read schematics, BOMs, and PCB fabrication/assembly drawings.
• In‑depth knowledge of IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑J‑STD‑001, and process control methods.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt), or similar certification.
