Job summary

Schaeffler in Wooster, Ohio, is seeking an Electrical Software Design Engineer in the SMB department to design and commission control software for manufacturing automation.

You will develop embedded control software and integrate with Siemens TIA Portal, Step7, Fanuc robots, and machine vision systems, collaborating with multi-discipline teams. Travel to customer sites may be required up to 25% to support deployments and service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or controls engineering.
• Minimum one year of practical experience.
• Advanced engineering & physics knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of systems integration strategies, concepts, and techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of design of custom equipment for manufacturing including assembly, inspection, process control, etc.
• Knowledge of Risk Level Assessment, codes, and regulations for industrial equipment safety.
• External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and commission control software for manufacturing automation processes.
• Cooperate with engineers from other disciplines to coordinate software interfaces.
• Develop control software and embedded systems for project realization.

• Hardware integration with PLCs, servo drives, and industrial networks.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Electrical Software Design Engineer in the Schaeffler Special Machinery (SMB) Department in Wooster, Ohio.
• Contribute to Schaeffler's success in an ever-changing market by developing and commissioning control software for manufacturing automation processes.
• Cooperate with engineers or professionals of other disciplines to coordinate software interfaces.
• Develop control software and design embedded systems for technical realization of projects.
• Software development in the fields of Siemens Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal & Step7, Fanuc Robots, Machine Vision Systems, C+, C#, Microsoft Office, etc.
• Hardware integration with Siemens 1500 series Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), servo drive systems, industrial networking (Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet, etc.), proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controls, power distribution systems, etc.
• Travel to various sites for customer service support, up to 25% travel requirements depending on needs.
