Job summary

GNS North America is seeking a production lead on the 3rd shift to supervise daily floor activities and ensure safe movement of materials. You will coordinate team efforts, manage forklift operations, and uphold safety and quality standards across the plant.

Responsibilities include guiding material flow, supporting inventory control, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to boost productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily direction and support to production team members for smooth material flow and efficient operations.
  • Coordinate movement of raw materials, finished products, parts, and supplies across the floor.
  • Operate forklifts safely to transport materials between departments, workstations, and shipping areas.
  • Ensure loads are stacked, secured, and transported safely by keeping loads low and stable.
  • Monitor safety, quality, housekeeping, and company policies compliance.
  • Train and coach team members on forklift operation and proper material handling practices.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections and report issues; change propane tanks as needed.
  • Assist with troubleshooting workflow issues and suggest productivity improvements.
  • Coordinate inventory control tasks: pulling, stocking parts, and preparing materials.
  • Assist production support tasks including transporting dies and loading coils, scraping disposal.
  • Ensure proper use of equipment, pallets, and trailers when moving materials.
  • Monitor production priorities and ensure materials are available for uninterrupted operations.
  • Promote lean manufacturing and a clean, organized 5S workplace.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork.

Schedule

3rd Shift, Sunday-Thursday, 10:00pm-6:00am with over time and Fridays and Saturdays based on business needs

Position Summary

Lead and support daily production floor activities by ensuring the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, finished goods, and production supplies. Coordinate team activities, maintain workflow, and assist in meeting production goals while operating a forklift safely and following all company safety rules, regulations, and established procedures.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide daily direction and support to production team members to ensure smooth material flow and efficient operations.
  • Coordinate the movement of raw materials, finished products, parts, and supplies throughout the production floor.
  • Operate forklifts safely to transport a variety of materials between departments, workstations, storage areas, and shipping locations.
  • Ensure all loads are properly stacked, secured, and transported safely by positioning loads close to the ground when conditions permit and placing materials carefully at designated locations.
  • Monitor team compliance with safety procedures, quality standards, housekeeping expectations, and company policies.
  • Train, coach, and support team members on proper forklift operation, material handling procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections, including checking oil levels, battery condition, and general equipment operation. Change propane tanks as required and report equipment issues or safety concerns to supervision.
  • Assist with troubleshooting workflow issues and provide recommendations to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Coordinate and support inventory control activities, including pulling and stocking parts, preparing materials for production, and maintaining organized storage areas.
  • Assist with production support tasks, including transporting dies, loading coils, dumping scrap, removing unnecessary materials from the production floor, and preparing work areas.
  • Ensure proper use of equipment, lifting devices, pallets, skids, and trailers when moving materials.
  • Monitor production priorities and help ensure materials are available to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to reduce downtime, improve processes, and increase efficiency.
  • Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles, including maintaining a clean and organized 5S workplace.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork.
  • Ensure finished products and materials meet quality expectations before moving to the next process or destination.
  • Demonstrate leadership through effective communication, problem-solving, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. This job involves repetitive tasks and attention to detail. Fast-paced environment, usually work standard 40-hour weeks, but overtime may be necessary as work load’s dictate. This may include weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.

Work Environments

Work performed in a shop environment and regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise. GNS has established processes, procedures, and protective equipment to reduce or eliminate exposures to these hazards and full compliance is a requirement of the job. Requires working in non-air-conditioned variable temperature factory setting. Employees are exposed to extreme heat and/or cold and other workplace hazards. Noise level is the work environment is mostly loud. Employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing, pre-employment physical and background checks.
