Our nurses in Acute Care Medicine manage patients with a wide range of clinical issues, including blood dyscrasias, endocrine pathologies, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma, and more. Due to patient acuity, we provide advanced training to elevate new nurses to the highest levels of practice. Each unit is led by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse, supported by an advanced practice nurse, with additional team members such as case managers, social workers, physical therapists, dietitians, and pharmacists working together to deliver quality care.

Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose

Under the direction of the manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a unit on a designated shift. Performs direct patient care as needed and functions as a clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates, and documents the nursing process of the assigned unit as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into the ambulatory care setting. Critically assesses patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establishes consults to the interprofessional team as appropriate.
  • Leads the development and implementation of complex individual care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregivers, ensuring adherence to nursing care standards. The care plan reflects holistic clinical knowledge, anticipates barriers, incorporates team and family input, and seeks to improve patient outcomes.
  • Champions evidence-based practices through scientific inquiry, such as participating in journal clubs, facilitating practice changes, recommending standards of care, conducting literature searches, and disseminating new knowledge from conferences or education. Supports nursing practice advancement through community service, patient education, advisory roles, or academic involvement.
  • Analyzes practice standards gaps, provides feedback for improvement, and evaluates patient and family experiences to enhance satisfaction and quality of care.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position; the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is essential.
Minimum Requirements

Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing

Experience: 2-5 years

Supervisor Experience: None required

Licenses & Certifications: RN license

Preferred Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Experience: 5-10 years
