About The Role

The Team Lead will work within the operations leadership team to support various Underwriting business units, directly managing a medium to large group of underwriting technical specialists. The Team Lead provides the highest level of customer service, ensuring the ops team is equipped with the tools necessary to complete all tasks in a timely and accurate manner. They will act as subject matter expert and troubleshooter to ensure efficient operations and smooth, timely workflow, while fulfilling the role of liaison between internal/external clients and the underwriting support team. The Team Lead is responsible for monitoring, training, mentoring, motivating, and leading a team of Technical Specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of Technical Specialists.
  • Hires/trains/onboards new team members.
  • Manages the day-to-day activity of ops team for assigned business unit.
  • Monitors and rebalances team workload.
  • Works with IT to manage IT ticket resolution.
  • Acts as subject matter expert for assigned business unit(s).
  • Work with cross-functional teams to assist in resolving complex issues.
  • Contributes to implementation requirements/testing of various technology/systems.
  • Monitors and manages quality and SLA metrics.
  • Understands, monitors and reports on SLA’s, quality and audit metrics and continually looks for ways to improve process and gain efficiency.
  • First point of escalation for any questions/issues within the team.
  • Thought leader who assists in defining Target Operating Model.
  • Manages Internal and external monthly reporting, as needed.
  • Supports finance, systems, data, and actuarial teams in ad-hoc requests.
  • QAs policies/endorsements to ensure accuracy.
  • Communicates daily with outsource team on quality of work, process revisions and exceptions.
  • Spearheads various projects, as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience within the insurance industry in an operations or underwriting function.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Experience with E&S a plus.
  • Prior managerial experience required.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Subscribe, IMS, and ODEN Policy Terminator a plus.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PPT).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Focused eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Desire to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
  • Positive, approachable attitude and willingness to assist with projects outside the scope of the role.
  • Ability to independently solve problems.
  • Adapts well to change and possesses change management skills.

Compensation

Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus, and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company.

The salary range for this position in Chicago and New York Metro is $95,000-$105,000
