Position Summary
Maintains a smooth flow of operations in an assigned area by organizing resources (materials and operators), start-up activities, and workflow to ensure safety, quality, and operational goals are met daily. May perform the same work assignments as team members, with responsibilities for goals and training.
Position Responsibilities
- Ensure a consistent flow of operations by completing production records and data entry (DPRs, process monitors, production summaries, double check sheets, work orders, etc.)
- Assist with changeovers and line flushes; oversee downtime clean-up activities.
- Perform material handling duties within the department and replenish materials to meet operational schedules.
- Report on production standards, downtime, and reassignments to supervisors.
- Audit work areas for SOP compliance, product conformance, and documentation accuracy.
- Verify raw material accuracy per bill of materials/DPR and operator work assignments.
- Start up equipment and adjust line speeds as needed.
- Perform quality inspections and document results.
- Maintain effective working relationships and support team members.
- Provide on-the-job training for new and temporary associates.
- Participate in continuous improvement meetings and problem resolution activities.
- Evaluate work processes for improvements and maximize communication within the department.
- Follow all safety procedures, conduct safety start-ups, and ensure PPE use.
- Sustain 6S standards through good housekeeping and standard work execution.
- Utilize LEAN methodologies, participate in LEAN events, and document changes according to ISO guidelines.
- Embrace necessary changes for continuous improvement and perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience
- Fluent in English (written and verbal), able to read instructions and procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Team building skills and ability to work with diverse groups.
- Basic math and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures (lockout/tagout, machine guarding, OSHA standards).
- Basic computer skills (MS Office) and ability to learn new systems.
- Rework and inventory control procedures.
- Dependability for a 24-hour operation.
- Two years of manufacturing/distribution experience with in-depth product knowledge.
Education and Certification
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
