Job summary

CESO, Inc. seeks an experienced Survey Team Lead to oversee the coordination and delivery of surveying documentation across multiple projects. You will lead production teams, set priorities, and ensure schedules, budgets, quality, and best practices are followed.

You will mentor staff, review deliverables for accuracy, and serve as a technical liaison with clients, consultants, and AHJs, applying codes and standards to ensure compliant, high-quality work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying or a related field or a Professional Surveyor license.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional surveying experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership or management role preferred.
  • FS Exam completion and SI licensure preferred.
  • Professional Surveyor licensure preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage production teams, assign tasks, balance workloads, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Oversee full project lifecycle to align with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on budgeting, scheduling, staffing forecasts, and proposals.
  • Provide technical guidance on codes, QA reviews, survey calculations, and documentation accuracy.
  • Act as liaison between internal teams, clients, consultants, and AHJs to ensure compliance.
  • Interpret and apply standards and codes to ensure professional, legal, and safety obligations.

Job description

Overview

At CESO, a Survey Team Lead brings advanced surveying expertise and leadership experience to oversee the coordination, and delivery of surveying documentation, specifications, and details across multiple complex projects. This position is responsible for managing production teams, setting priorities, and ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and company best practices. The Team Lead actively leads internal and external meetings, providing strategic input and technical guidance based on extensive experience, research, and industry knowledge. The Team Lead mentors and supports team members, fostering professional growth and collaboration, while also reviewing and approving surveying deliverables to ensure technical accuracy and consistency. In addition, the Team Lead leverages software and tools to evaluate and troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to high-level technical reports and project documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the team’s quality of work, productivity, and actions.
  • Direct and support production teams by assigning tasks, balancing workloads, and ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet technical and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of projects—ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Discipline Leads on project budgeting, scheduling, staffing forecasts, and proposal development.
  • Offer expert guidance on code compliance, and technical problem-solving, including implementation of Quality Management Programs, QA reviews, survey calculations, and documentation accuracy.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between internal teams, clients, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to ensure project clarity, alignment, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Interpret and apply company, client, and jurisdictional requirements, standards and applicable codes to ensure documentation meet professional, legal and safety obligations.
  • Perform or coordinate site visits and field measurements to validate existing conditions.
  • Implement and uphold quality management processes and contribute to the development of best practices and standards.
  • Lead meetings, document decisions, and clearly communicate project goals, updates, and changes to all relevant parties, including clients and senior leadership.
  • Supervising direct reports is a key responsibility of this job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying or a related field; In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, a Professional Surveyor license is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership or management role is preferred.
  • Completion of Fundamentals of Surveying Examination (FS) and certification as an SI with a state licensure board is preferred.
  • Professional Surveyor (PS) licensure is preferred.
  • Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Deltek, BlueBeam Revu and other applicable software.
  • Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD Civil3D technology experience is a plus.
