Brief Description
The Team Lead will perform all duties necessary to manufacture Below-the-Hook lifting devices according to company policy and procedures, as well as customer deliveries, as needed. They will schedule and assign work, oversee production and training of all employees assigned. The Team Lead is also responsible for coordinating shipping and receiving and maintaining accuracy in reporting requirements.
Requirements
- Review production requirements and production schedule to assign work to team members within the department
- Plan, coordinate, and schedule activities with various departments to meet production schedules and ship dates
- Build and lead a team to build Below-the-Hook lifting devices to engineering drawings within specified tolerances
- Review, interpret, and understand weld codes and weld instructions
- Effectively communicate with Engineering to troubleshoot and produce quality BTH lifters
- Ensure all shop documentation is complete and accurate
- Communicate production team’s progress throughout the build process
- Ensure all shipments are complete and related documentation is recorded accurately
- Utilize daily opportunities to train and instruct to raise the level of skill amongst the workforce
- Review, interpret, and understand codes, instructions, and specifications of quality documents along with engineered drawings or blueprints
- Communicate with necessary team members to satisfy customer requirements; report defective or substandard material supplies or products
- Monitor and enforce adherence to company principles, policies, procedures, and work instructions in accordance with Company Quality Assurance Standards
- Count, record, and report inventory as required
- Ensure equipment is utilized in accordance with company policy and procedure
- Ensure all required preoperational inspections/tests are performed on equipment within the department
- Assign specific work to all associates within the department and maintain a high level of productivity
- Participate and lead continuous improvement activities
- Facilitate and run morning huddles
- Provide recommendations to the supervisor for team member related issues, i.e., hiring, disciplinary actions, employee relations
- Set up, operate, adjust and maintain production machines and equipment; operate forklifts and conduct proof test loading
- Maintain work area, equipment, and tools in a clean and organized manner; follow all Safety Guidelines
- Commit to Lifelong Learning by completing all assigned learning and seeking opportunities to improve self
- Other duties as assigned
Education
A high school diploma or GED is required; trade school or military experience a plus
Experience & Skills
- Experience in a manufacturing environment required, strongly preferred; wire rope industry strongly preferred
- Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
- Tow motor experience preferred
- Experience in conflict resolution, direct labor utilization, budgeting, maintaining equipment, maintenance schedules of mission critical equipment
- Ability to identify bottlenecks and determine effective solutions
- Ability to identify cost savings strategies and implement promptly and effectively
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, conceptual and planning skills are required
- Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required
- Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and disciplined with the ability to multi-task
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check, drug screen and E-verify
