Job summary

The Office of the State's Attorney for Baltimore City seeks a Team Captain for the Public Trust and Police Integrity Unit (PTPIU). This leadership role, reporting to the Division Chief, requires exceptional judgment, strong litigation experience, and the ability to mentor attorneys handling sensitive investigations.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Maryland.
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience as an Assistant State's Attorney.
• Minimum of ten jury trials.
• Demonstrated commitment to Public Trust and Police Integrity Unit.
• Strong knowledge of criminal law, criminal procedure, legal research, and trial advocacy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment while handling sensitive investigations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, investigators, and law enforcement partners.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Division Chief with intake, review, and assessment of new investigations.
• Provide guidance on investigative strategy, legal analysis, charging decisions, and trial preparation.
• Mentor, train, and supervise attorneys assigned to the Unit.
• Prosecute complex felony cases involving misconduct by law enforcement officers.
• Coordinate with investigators throughout all phases of criminal investigations.
• Help maintain consistent policies, procedures, and best practices within the Unit.
• Respond to critical incidents involving law enforcement officers (24/7 on-call rotation).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
