Job summary

The University of Chicago is seeking a Teaching Laboratory Support to assist in preparing and developing laboratory exercises for undergraduate biology courses and neurosciences courses. The role involves following lab protocols, maintaining stocks of model organisms, and ordering supplies for planned labs.

You will set up equipment, train undergraduate staff, and help create manuals and safety materials for courses in biodiversity, cell biology, genetics, neuroscience, and developmental biology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • 2–5 years of work experience in a related lab or academic setting.
  • Experience handling and maintaining stocks of model organisms preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares materials for student labs.
  • Organizes, sets up, and maintains laboratory spaces for daily/weekly laboratory exercises.
  • Maintains inventories of equipment and supplies.
  • Trains and supervises undergraduate lab support staff.
  • Assists with creating manuals, syllabi, and instructional materials.
  • Promotes safety in handling equipment and materials.
