The Department of Construction Management is seeking a full‑time Teaching Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor position (two vacancies), with an anticipated start date of January 2027. This is a 9‑month, academic‑year appointment with a potential supplementary summer teaching opportunity. The initial appointment will be for three semesters (Spring 2027 through academic year 2027‑2028) and then will be renewed subject to annual performance reviews.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, student engagement, and curriculum development. Responsibilities include:
Teach undergraduate courses in core construction management areas, with a teaching load appropriate for a teaching‑focused appointment. Instructional areas may include construction estimating, construction scheduling, surveying, construction materials, Building Information Modeling (BIM), cost control, equipment management, construction economics, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, delivered in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online environments. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve curriculum, course content, student learning outcomes, and instructional materials to ensure alignment with industry standards and accreditation requirements. Provide academic advising and student mentorship, including guidance on career pathways and facilitation of experiential learning opportunities such as internships, co‑ops, and industry‑sponsored projects. Build and sustain strong relationships with industry partners, supporting student placement opportunities and integrating real‑world applications into teaching and learning activities. Contribute to service at the department, college, university, and professional levels, including participation in committees, program assessment, accreditation efforts, and student organizations. Collaborate effectively with faculty and staff to foster a team‑oriented, student‑centered academic environment. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the department’s mission. Earned master’s degree (Teaching Instructor) or doctoral degree (Teaching Assistant Professor) in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a closely related field. Demonstrated teaching capability or relevant professional experience in construction management or a closely related discipline.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
