The Opportunity:

The Engineering and Technology Management (ETM) online master’s degree program at Washington State University invites applications for two specialized career (non-tenure) track full-time, 9-month, continuous teaching appointments at the Assistant and Associate levels in more than one area of leadership, project management, quality control, financial management, analytical methods, constraints management, strategic management, industrial leadership, systems management, and other specialty areas. These positions will be remote and teach through WSU’s Global Campus.

As a successful candidate, you will develop and teach graduate courses, advise students, and effectively communicate and interact with students, faculty, and staff. You will also play a key role in developing curriculum, participating in continuous teaching and program assessment improvement activities, and interfacing with industry and professional networks. Additionally, you will support student recruitment and retention activities and collaborate with others within the Department, College, University, and other organizations. 9 Month Academic Year Salary:

Scholarly Assistant Professor: $80,000 - $100,000

Scholarly Associate Professor: $85,000 - $105,000

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications for All Ranks:

  • Ph.D. or D.Eng. in Engineering, Industrial, Manufacturing, or SystemsEngineering; Engineering Management; Engineering/TechnologyManagement; or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited program.

  • Demonstrated ability or strong potential for effective teaching and thedevelopment of high-quality educational curricula.

  • A minimum of one year of post-Ph.D. industry or professional experiencewith strong industry and professional connections.

  • Demonstrated commitment or strong potential to foster equitable andinclusive educational experiences aligned with WSU’s land-grant mission.

Additional Required Qualifications for Associate Professor Rank:

  • A minimum of seven years of post-Ph.D. professional experience inacademia, industry, or a national laboratory, with a demonstrated recordof increasing responsibility and leadership.

  • Significant experience mentoring students or professionals and managingor leading complex academic or industry-based projects, operations, orprograms.

  • Demonstrated leadership in collaborative environments, with the ability tocontribute strategically to organizational development and to buildsustainable partnerships with industry, government, and communitystakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications for All Ranks:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to teach graduate-levelcourses in areas such as lean manufacturing, quality management, supplychain management, engineering economics, and/or the theory ofconstraints

  • Experience teaching in multiple modalities, particularly online anddistance learning environments

  • A demonstrated record of accomplishment as an educator and scholar indeveloping and sustaining academic programs and curricula

  • Experience in student recruitment and active engagement with industrythrough corporate relations or strategic partnership

Overtime Eligibility: Not Overtime Eligible

FTE: 100%

This is a temporary non-tenure track position.

Temporary End Date: It is anticipated the successful candidate will begin their appointment no later than August 16, 2025. This position is eligible for an early academic start of August 1, 2025.The position will be considered for a 1-year fixed term appointment.This is a temporary position expected to end on May 15, 2026. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
