Teaching Assistant (Multiple Positions Available)

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking Teaching Assistants (Temporary) for the Rutgers Center for Government Services.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Assists in administrative duties.
  • Handles class preparation and participation.
  • Addresses minor student inquiries.
  • Understands training objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Familiarizes themselves with course materials, manuals, and digital tools.
  • Practices delivering content using effective teaching methods.
  • Facilitates discussions, answers questions, and manages classroom dynamics.
  • Incorporates adult learning principles, interactive learning, and hands-on activities.
  • Accepts and applies constructive feedback from trainers and peers.
  • Refines teaching techniques based on evaluations and observations.
  • Self-assesses strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Provides support to the part-time Instructors assigned to non-credit courses and programs offered through the Center for Government Services.

  • Affordable Housing Professional Certification Program
  • Assessment Administration Program
  • County Administration
  • Elected Officials Program
  • NJ Educational Facility Management Program
  • NJ Local Housing Authority and Redevelopment Agency Program
  • Planning & Zoning Program
  • Professional Development Program
  • Public Purchasing Program
  • Public Safety Program
  • Public Technology
  • Public Works Program

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Two years relevant experience working in government and/or public sector position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of Train-the-Trainer program.
  • Government or professional certification.

This position will work at several sites throughout New Jersey.

Salary: $20-$30 per hour
