Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School in Danvers, MA is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the Companion Animals Program to support the lead instructor across animal health, nutrition, behavior, grooming, and husbandry. • Redirects and adapts students who are observed having difficulties towards the appropriate classroom resources.
• Builds formidable and educationally appropriate relationships with students.
• Implements appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities.
• Performs other duties as required and assumes such other responsibilities as the Coordinator or their Designee may assign.

The ideal candidate has direct experience handling diverse companion animals—including dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles, and fish—and a passion for guiding students toward careers in the animal industry.

Reporting Structure

The Teaching Assistant reports to the CTAE Coordinator.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Bilingual preferred.
• 2-5 years of field experience required.
• Satisfactory SAFIS, CORI, and SORI background checks required.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent-Director may find appropriate and in conformity with state and federal law.

Physical Working Conditions

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times. The position may require in and out-of-district travel.

Terms and Conditions of Employment

• This is a 10-month position, 184 day position, with hours to be set by the Coordinator or designee.
• Salary and fringe benefits are established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the policies established by the School Committee.
