Job summary

The Center for Disability Services seeks a dedicated Teaching Assistant for the Albany CloverPatch Preschool in Albany, NY. You will support instructional activities, assist with daily living tasks, and help implement behavioral plans under the direction of licensed staff.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, a commitment to obtain NYS Teaching Assistant Certification within one year, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college credits preferred.
• Must obtain NYS Teaching Assistant Certification within one year of hire.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instructional activities as directed by the teacher, including direct instruction to students.
• May assume responsibility for the class when the teacher is absent or unavailable.
• Follow mobility, dining and direct care protocols per individual fact sheets.
• Assist with activities of daily living and learning environment setup.
• Help execute behavioral plans and record data on student progress.
• Monitor student responses and support therapists and teachers as needed.

We are looking for Teaching Assistants to join our Albany CloverPatch Preschool in Albany, NY.

Responsibilities

• Assists in instructional activities as directed by the teacher- including direct instruction of students
• May assume responsibility for class when teacher is absent/unavailable
• Follows mobility, dining and direct care protocols as directed by the teacher or therapist and as noted on individual fact sheets
• Assists with management needs of students, including performing duties related to activities of daily living, (toileting, diapering, washing, tooth brushing), dress/undress, put on/remove adaptive equipment, set up students’ learning environment
• Carries out therapeutic goals within classroom activities as directed by and in conjunction with the therapist, includes systematic lifting and positioning of students and application and removal of equipment
• Records data, monitors student responses as directed by teacher or other team professionals
• Follows behavioral plans/intervention techniques for assigned students, as directed by teacher, school psychologist, and/or behavior support staff

Compensation Range: $18.28 - $20.78
