Job summary

Center for Disability Services in Glenville, NY is seeking Teaching Assistants for the CloverPatch Preschool to support teachers and students in an inclusive learning environment. You will assist with instruction, follow individual plans, help with daily living activities, safety protocols, data collection, and collaboration with therapists to promote student growth and well-being.

The position requires a high school diploma, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and eligibility to obtain NYS

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required; college credits preferred.
• Must obtain NYS Teaching Assistant Certification within one year of hire.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assists in instructional activities as directed by the teacher - including direct instruction of students.
• May assume responsibility for class when teacher is absent/unavailable.
• Follows mobility, dining and direct care protocols as directed by the teacher or therapist.
• Assists with management needs of students, including activities of daily living (toileting, diapering, washing, brushing) and setting up learning environments.
• Carries out therapeutic goals within classroom activities in coordination with therapists, including lifting and positioning of students and equipment.
• Records data and monitors student responses as directed by teachers or other professionals.
• Follows behavioral plans/interventions for assigned students as directed by staff.

Education
