Job summary

The Center for Disability Services is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the Albany CloverPatch Preschool in Albany, NY. You will support classroom instruction, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment for children with disabilities.

Responsibilities include direct instruction support, data recording, and helping implement therapeutic goals in collaboration with teachers and therapists.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college credits preferred.
• Will need NYS Teaching Assistant Certification within one year of hire.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

• Assists in instructional activities as directed by the teacher, including direct instruction of students.
• May assume responsibility for class when the teacher is absent/unavailable.
• Follows mobility, dining and direct care protocols as directed by the teacher or therapist.
• Assists with activities of daily living and classroom setup for students.
• Carries out therapeutic goals within classroom activities in coordination with the therapist.
• Records data and monitors student responses as directed by the team.
• Follows behavioral plans/interventions for assigned students.

We are looking for Teaching Assistants to join our Albany CloverPatch Preschool in Albany, NY.

Responsibilities:

• Assists in instructional activities as directed by the teacher- including direct instruction of students
• May assume responsibility for class when teacher is absent/unavailable
• Follows mobility, dining and direct care protocols as directed by the teacher or therapist and as noted on individual fact sheets
• Assists with management needs of students, including performing duties related to activities of daily living, (toileting, diapering, washing, tooth brushing), dress/undress, put on/remove adaptive equipment, set up students’ learning environment
• Carries out therapeutic goals within classroom activities as directed by and in conjunction with the therapist, includes systematic lifting and positioning of students and application and removal of equipment
• Records data, monitors student responses as directed by teacher or other team professionals
• Follows behavioral plans/intervention techniques for assigned students, as directed by teacher, school psychologist, and/or behavior support staff

Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED required; college credits preferred
• Will be required to obtain their NYS Teaching Assistant Certification within one year of hire
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

Compensation Range:

$19.39 - $22.80
