Position Overview

West Ridge Academy is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and adaptable5th Grade Teaching Assistant to join our team. The Teaching Assistant plays a vital role in supporting student learning, maintaining a positive classroom environment, supervision of students, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of our 5th-grade program.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced school setting, works collaboratively with teachers and staff, and possesses a strong ability to pivot quickly as classroom and school needs evolve throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Morning Duty: Greet students upon arrival, monitor hallway/arrival areas, and assist with a smooth transition into the start of the school day.
• Lunch & Recess Monitoring: Supervise students during lunch and outdoor/indoor recess, promoting positive social interactions, conflict resolution, and student safety.
• Small Group Instruction: Partner with the lead teacher to deliver targeted academic support and re-teaching in reading, math, and other core subjects for individual students or small groups.
• Classroom & Teacher Coverage: Provide substitute coverage for the lead teacher during planned absences or short-term coverage as needed.
• General Operational Support: Assist with classroom preparation, grading, administrative tasks, and clerical duties.
• Flexible Support: Fulfill additional duties as assigned across the school day to support student success and maintain school safety.
