Job summary

Jobtailor in Kahului, Hawaii is seeking an enthusiastic early childhood educator's assistant to support learning through play and activities. You will help implement curriculum, maintain a safe, inclusive environment, and assist with daily routines for toddlers and preschoolers.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Associates degree in ECE or related field preferred.
• CDA credential preferred.
• 12 college credits in ECE/related preferred.
• Experience with preschool-aged children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and learning support using best practices in early childhood education.
• Maintain an active, inclusive environment for all children.
• Follow health and safety practices, including diapering and toileting.
• Adhere to the National Association for the Education of Young Children code.
• Assist with curriculum creation and implementation.
• Engage with preschool students to promote learning through play.
• Ensure activities and equipment are age-appropriate and safe.
• Assist with planning and delivering daily activities and programming.
• Prepare and care for classroom and playground as needed.
• Coordinate and assist with community field trips and transitions.
• Apply positive guidance and problem-solving techniques.
• Demonstrate organization in managing work and responsibilities.
• Duties include lifting toddlers and preschool children.
• Lead group and individual activities.
• Differentiate activities to meet children’s immediate needs.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Use best practices in early childhood education to meet the care and learning needs of children
• Maintain an active, functional, appropriate, inclusive environment
• Maintain current health and safety practices, including safe diapering and toileting
• Adhere to the Code of Ethical Conduct of the National Association for the Education of Young Children
• Assist with the creation and implementation of the curriculum
• Interact with preschool students to encourage learning through play
• Assure developmental appropriateness of activities, equipment, and supplies within the program
• Assist with development and delivery of programming, including well‑prepared daily activities
• Prepare and care for classroom and playground as needed and/or requested
• Assist with coordination and running of community field trips; assist with transition across educational environments
• Apply positive methods of guidance and problem solving
• Demonstrate organizational skills in independently managing work and related responsibilities
• Duties involve lifting toddlers and preschool age children
• Prepare and lead group and individual activities
• Use behavior consistent with strong environmental awareness and the ability to differentiate immediate needs of the children/program
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Associates Degree in ECE, Child Development, or related field, or equivalent, preferred (at least 1 year experience in related field preferred)
• Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential reflective of the age group of children they are supporting preferred
• Must have qualifications equivalent to a CDA, which is 12 college credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, and/or early childhood special education preferred
• Experience with preschool-aged children preferred
