Job summary

Theatre Philadelphia is seeking Teaching Artists to work with children and teens in a variety of performing arts programs, including acting, musical theatre, dance, vocal performance, improvisation, storytelling, and theatre games. The Uptown Knauer Performing Arts Center hosts these ensembles and events.

Ideal candidates will have experience teaching or working with youth, training in theatre or other performing arts, strong communication and organizational skills, and a collaborative,

Teaching Artists work with children and teens in a variety of performing arts programs, including acting, musical theatre, dance, vocal performance, improvisation, storytelling, and theatre games. We want to connect with experienced educators and performing artists who are passionate about helping young people build creativity, confidence, teamwork, and performance skills.

Responsibilities

Teaching Artists may be responsible for:

• Planning and leading engaging, age-appropriate performing arts classes
• Creating lessons that balance skill development, creativity, and fun
• Fostering a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
• Preparing students for showcases, concerts, or final performances, as applicable
• Communicating professionally with Uptown staff and participating families
• Attending all scheduled classes, rehearsals, and performances associated with their assigned program
