Purpose: The Columbia Public School District is seeking applications for a Full‑time Math Interventionist.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

• Organizing school‑wide benchmarking in the fall, winter and spring (preparing materials, distributing to classroom teachers, administering assessments one‑on‑one, assisting teachers in scoring, entering data, organizing data clearly for data team meetings).
• Attend and participate in data team meetings.
• Support classroom teachers through planning units of study, finding or creating particular lessons and materials, maintaining the Math Resource Center and/or modeling lessons.
• Build and support a school‑wide culture of high‑quality math instruction for every student.
• Implement the school's Title I Math program.
• Preparing and implementing daily lessons in math for small groups of students and push‑in to support students within their classroom setting.
• Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers and participate in grade level team meetings in a positive and productive manner.
• Communicate with the parents of his/her students.
• Collect data on student achievement and keep records of student participation and progress.
• Evaluate student progress and program effectiveness in collaboration with the school principal and other members of the school math team.
• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated both individually and collaboratively.
• Plan and implement a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of all students using data‑driven decision‑making.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of all students.
• Prepare for assigned classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish and communicate clear objectives to students for all lessons and units.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of individuals or student groups involved.
• Strive to implement by instruction and action the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
• Evaluate the learning problems of students on a regular basis, seeking assistance of District specialists as needed and/or required.
• Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, District policy, and Administrative regulation.
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure while maintaining order in the classroom fairly and appropriately.
• Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
• Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers where applicable.
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as needed.
• Understand and adhere to Board policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree; Missouri teacher certificate in elementary education
Preferred: Math Specialist 1‑6 Certification

Technology: Integrate technology into daily instruction; present information to students using a variety of media; Access and present information from online sources in a manner that enhances instruction; Lead and monitor students as they perform online research; Instruct in buildings/classes where students are actively using 1‑to‑1 technology such as laptop computers, iPads, and other devices; Lead students in creating and presenting multi‑media projects when such assignments enhance student learning; Use district software for recording grades and finding student information; Readily utilize smart boards, projectors and other instructional technology provided by the district; Adhere to all District policies and procedures regarding technology use.

Physical Demands: An individual who holds this position must have the ability to: speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously; move around the classroom to interact with and manage students/groups of students; read handwritten or printed material.

Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Conditions and Environment: The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation.
