Job summary

Boulder Valley School District is seeking a Substitute Teacher to provide coverage for teachers who are absent and maintain a positive learning environment. The role supports student learning by delivering planned lessons and ensuring classroom discipline in the absence of the regular teacher.

Position is as-needed with a flexible schedule. Pay rates are $145 for a full day and $78 for a half day, with BVSD retired teacher pay at $160 for full day and $85 for half day.

Qualifications

• Active Colorado Substitute Teaching Authorization (1, 3, or 5 year) or a Colorado Teaching license.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Course work in education, human services, or related field.

Summary:

Instructs students and facilitates their learning in the absence of the regular teacher while maintaining discipline and classroom management that fosters a safe and positive learning environment for all students and staff.

Responsibilities:

• Provide coverage for teachers who are absent
• Communicate effectively with students
• Incorporate understanding and appreciation for diversity into instructional practices
• Effectively utilizetime, materials, and resources to maximize learning time for all students
• Create and managea learning environment that promotes a safe and orderly classroom
• Implement lesson plans developed by the licensed teacher

Qualifications:

Required:

• Active Colorado Substitute Teaching Authorization (1, 3, or 5 year) or a Colorado Teaching license
• Complete and submit BVSD online application
• Attach: copy of CDE teaching license or substitute authorization, two letters of reference, and/or reference surveys.

Preferred:

• Experience working with children
• Course work in education, human services, or relatedfield
• Proven ability to work effectively with adults and children
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

Salary Information:

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule)
