Job summary

Paterson Public Schools in New Jersey is seeking a qualified teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will hold the appropriate NJ instructional certificate and a Students with Disabilities or Teachers of the Handicapped certification, with experience supporting students with special needs and implementing IEP-driven instruction.

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of the NJSLS and NJSLA.
• Excellent classroom management.

Qualifications:

• Must hold appropriate New Jersey instructional certificate for the position and a Students with Disabilities Certification or Teacher of the Handicapped Certification
• Experience working with students with special needs
• Ability to modify curriculum and provide individualized instruction based upon IEP goals and objectives
• Ability to motivate and work in teams to achieve academic expectations
• Able to work collaboratively with school leaders and school staff to collect, analyze, and use data to continuously modify the instructional program
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with students, staff, parents, administrators, and the community
• Ability to provide a nurturing, supportive and positive classroom climate that encourages student responsibility, using positive motivation, clear classroom routines and effective classroom management skills
• Knowledge of the NJSLS and NJSLA
• Must be a critical thinker, problem solver, and respect others
• Must be computer literate and able to use interactive computer instructional software
• Excellent classroom management
