Job summary

Paterson Public Schools is seeking a qualified educator to join our team and support students with disabilities in a standards-based instructional program. The role requires an active NJ instructional certificate and the appropriate disability certification, plus experience delivering individualized instruction aligned to IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Must hold appropriate New Jersey instructional certificate for the position and a Students with Disabilities Certification or Teacher of the Handicapped Certification.
• Experience working with students with special needs.
• Ability to modify curriculum and provide individualized instruction based upon IEP goals and objectives.
• Ability to motivate and work in teams to achieve academic expectations.
• Able to work collaboratively with school leaders and school staff to collect, analyze, and use data to continuously modify the instructional program.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with students, staff, parents, administrators, and the community.
• Ability to provide a nurturing, supportive and positive classroom climate that encourages student responsibility, using positive motivation, clear classroom routines and effective classroom management skills.
• Knowledge of the NJSLS and NJSLA.
• Must be a critical thinker, problem solver, and respect others.
• Must be computer literate and able to use interactive computer instructional software.
• Excellent classroom management.
