Job Description
Certification: Certification in Middle Grades Science (4‑8) preferred; Bibb County is a Strategic Waiver District. Alternative certification routes are available for graduates of accredited institutions.
Job Summary: This position plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students and creates an atmosphere conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development, ensuring achievement for every child.
Distinguishing Characteristics: No supervisory responsibilities.

Virtual Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the virtual platform, in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills.
- Use a variety of programs and software applications to complete instructional and administrative tasks.
- Participate in professional learning to enhance online instruction, including required professional learning that leads to a virtual teaching endorsement.
- Clearly articulate deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to ensure timely completion of coursework.
- Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, students’ records, parents, and colleagues.
- Interact professionally with students and parents.
- Be available for conferences according to district policies.
- Facilitate home‑school communication by holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications.
- Maintain confidentiality of students and records.
- Work cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents.
- Comply with school, district, and state administrative regulations and Board of Education policies.
- Conduct assigned classes at scheduled times.
- Enforce regulations concerning student conduct and discipline.
- Be punctual.
- Provide adequate information, plans, and materials for substitute teachers.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and appropriate records and file reports promptly.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy.
- Comply with conditions stated in the contract of employment.
- Demonstrate professional teaching practices.
- Model correct use of language, oral and written.
- Demonstrate accurate and up‑to‑date knowledge of content.
- Implement designated curriculum.
- Maintain lesson plans as required by school policy.
- Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students.

- Takes precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assumes responsibility for supervising students in out‑of‑class settings.
- Other Duties
- Perform duties required by the specific content area taught (such as competitions, after‑hours activities, etc.).
- Plan and coordinate assignments for paraprofessionals, other supporting staff, and volunteers; provide input to administrative staff on their performance.
- Perform other duties required by the district, school, or student need.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of student growth and development.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents related to safety, technology, and educational procedures.
- Ability to prepare and communicate effectively through written reports, lesson plans, and correspondence.
- Skill in computing and interpreting data, including rate, ratio, and percent calculations.
- Proficiency in PC operations and software applications, including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
- Capability to serve as a liaison with various professionals and to collaborate effectively with parents and guardians.
- Capacity to adapt instructional strategies and provide accommodations to meet individual student needs.
- Strong physical capability to manage classroom and student needs, including potential crisis intervention situations.
Certification, License and Special Requirements
- Ability to obtain clearance certificate from GaPSC.
Salary/Terms/Benefits
- 190‑day work year.
- Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the adopted salary schedule and position supplement(s).
