Description
Summary/Objective:
The Assistant Teacher should work closely with the Lead Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and educational environment. The Assistant Teacher should help implement daily activities and routines that support thechildren's developmental, emotional, and social needs. The Assistant Teacher reports to the Lead Teacher and Center Director.
Essential Functions:
- Provide continuous, active supervision of children to ensure safe environment.
- Be responsible for managing the classroom independently during opening, closing, or while helping with relief for breaks.
- Monitor children’s behavior and intervene when necessary to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Maintain proper child-to-staff ratios at all times.
- Support children with toileting, diapering, handwashing, and other hygiene routines.
- Observe children for signs of illness.
- Document observations, daily activities, incidents and child progress through Brightwheel.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Be physically able to lift children, move quickly, and assist with emergency protocols as needed.
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and adherence to scheduled hours.
- Uphold all center policies, procedures, and licensing standards.
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism and a positive attitude.
Infant TA Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist with feeding, diapering, and maintaining consistent sleep routines for infants.
- Help implement planned activities to promote sensory and motor development.
- Monitor infants’ health and safety, ensuring the classroom is clean and all safety guidelines are followed.
- Support the Lead Teacher with observations and assessments of infant progress.
- Communicate daily with parents regarding basic care routines and infant mood.
- Report all concerns to the Lead Teacher.
- Complete all other duties assigned by the Lead Teacher.
- Communicate with parents through Brightwheel and/or in person about their child’s activities, behavior, and social interactions.
Toddlers/Twos TA Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support the Lead Teacher in daily activities, guiding toddlers through their routines including snack time, potty training, and nap time.
- Help implement the curriculum by preparing materials, setting up activities, and assisting children in completing tasks.
- Supervise toddlers during free play and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety.
- Assist in documenting developmental progress as needed and report concerns to Lead Teacher.
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to maintain an organized and clean learning environment.
- Report all concerns to the Lead Teacher.
- Complete all other duties assigned by the Lead Teacher.
- Communicate with parents through Brightwheel and/or in person about their child’s activities, behavior, and social interactions.
PK TA Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support the Lead Teacher by preparing learning materials and assisting with classroom management as needed.
- Help guide children during group activities and individual work to reinforce lessons and promote skill development.
- Supervise children during transitions and routine activities such as meals and outdoor play.
- Assist with tracking children’s development, providing input to the Lead Teacher about any concerns or milestones.
- Maintain a positive and engaging classroom environment by helping children navigate social interactions and conflicts.
- Report all concerns to the Lead Teacher.
- Complete all other duties assigned by the Lead Teacher.
- Communicate with parents through Brightwheel and/or in person about their child’s activities, behavior, and social interactions.
School-Aged TA Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily activities, including outdoor play, snack time, and transitions between activities.
- Supervise free play, ensuring safety and promoting positive social interactions.
- Help implement the Lead Teacher’s planned activities and provide guidance during group projects or learning stations.
- Communicate with parents through Brightwheel and/or in person about their child’s activities, behavior, and social interactions.
- Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining an organized and clean space for both group and individual activities.
- Report all concerns to the Lead Teacher.
- Complete all other duties assigned by the Lead Teacher.

Qualifications
18 years of age or older
High School diploma or GED
Ability to work under pressure and with distractions
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with peers, parents, the general public, and individuals at all levels within the organization.
