Job summary

CompassHealth Center is seeking a Teacher’s Assistant to join our team for the school year, with summers off. This role blends direct patient interaction with administrative tasks in a pediatric behavioral health setting.

You will supervise learning environments for U18 programs, implement behavior strategies, prepare rooms for ASI, handle assignments, and coordinate with clinicians, teachers, and families while maintaining patient privacy and safety.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Bachelor’s Degree – preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily supervision and support for the learning environment across U18 programs.
  • Implement classroom behavior management strategies for patients.
  • Set up and facilitate rooms for Academic and Skills Integration (ASI).
  • Distribute printed work sent by email or printed from online resources.
  • Scan and e‑mail completed work back to school contacts.
  • Manage, proctor and support the administration of assessments for each patient, including noting special instructions/testing accommodations.
  • Set up computers/tablets for patients and support patients to connect to Compass Guest Wifi, in addition to securing all Compass technology when not in use.
  • Monitor patient technology use to ensure patients are following technology guidelines.
  • Engage in frequent communication and collaboration with team members.
  • Ensure safe patient transitions from room to room.
  • Communicate patient requests with doctors/nurses/therapists/teachers, as needed.
  • Monitor patients in the lobby before and after program.
  • Support with walking patients to/from lobby when they arrive and need to leave.
  • Administrative tasks such as data entry, attendance, and general paperwork.
  • Maintain patient privacy at all times.
  • Supervise patient lunch period, as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on CompassHealth Center when in crisis – every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About This Role

We are seeking a Teacher’s Assistant to join our team! This role will be a blend of direct patient interaction and general administration work. If you are passionate about providing patients with exemplary care, while being sensitive to their individual psychiatric conditions, you would be a great addition to our team.

This is a full time position throughout the school year with summers off.

Who You Are
  • Experience working with children and adolescents
  • Flexibility is critical
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to juggle multiple demands simultaneously in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Bachelor’s Degree – preferred

Compensation

$18 — $22 USD
