The Teacher Aide supports the daily operations of the program by assisting teaching staff with classroom supervision, routines and general care of the children. Under the direction of the Childcare Director and the Associate Teacher, the Teacher Aide helps maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.

This role focuses on providing hands‑on support during classroom activities, supervising children, assisting with daily care routines, and helping maintain a clean, organized and sanitary classroom environment. The Teacher Aide plays a key role in supporting children’s safety, and well‑being while modeling positive, Christ‑centered behavior. The ideal candidate is dependable, patient, and caring, with a willingness to learn and follow direction.

The Teacher Aide is a full‑time non‑exempt position wrapped up in a Christian environment that values Teamwork, Accountability, Humility, Innovation, and Joy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities
  1. Assist the Associate Teacher in maintaining a safe, and nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  2. Support classroom activities and learning experiences including preparation of materials and assistance during class activities.
  3. Always supervise children under the direction of the teaching staff.
  4. Assist with daily routines including arrival, departure, meals, rest time, toileting and classroom transitions.
  5. Model positive behavior, appropriate language and Christ-centered values in all interactions with children.
  6. Help maintain a clean, organized and sanitary classroom with health and safety guidelines.
  7. Follow instructions from the Associate Teacher and Childcare Director to support classroom operations.
  8. Observe and report concerns regarding children’s behavior, health, or safety to teaching staff.
  9. Follow all CityTeam policies, procedures, and applicable state childcare licensing regulations.
  10. Participate in required trainings and meetings as assigned.
  11. Assist with classroom set up and clean up.
  12. Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma with 6 semester units in Early Childhood Education.
  • At least two years of experience working, or volunteering, in a childcare program.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with proven ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Good written communication skills, experience writing reports and or policies and computer literate with proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Valid CA Driver’s License with a clean record
Preferred Education and Experience
  • 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education
  • Working towards an Associate Degree
  • California Commission Teacher Credential Assistant Teacher Permit
  • Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish/Vietnamese/Cambodian)
Work Conditions
  • This job is operated primarily in a licensed childcare classroom and residential program setting.
  • The role involved frequent interaction with children and required active supervision, movement and engagement throughout the day.
  • Use of standard childcare and classroom equipment may occur as needed.
  • Work hours may vary based on classroom and program scheduling needs
