The Archdiocese of St. Louis seeks a PSR Teacher to lead weekly religious education classes, prepare students for sacraments, and help them grow in knowledge and love of God and the Catholic Church.

This role is vital in fulfilling the parish’s mission to educate and evangelize children in partnership with their families. You will work with families, collaborate with the Coordinator of Religious Education, attend catechist training, and set an example of active faith and Catholic values in word

Qualifications

• Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
• Desire and commitment to share the Catholic faith with children.
• Knowledge of Catholic teachings and sacraments; willingness to learn.
• Previous teaching or ministry experience is helpful but not required.
• Patience, enthusiasm, and ability to relate well to children and parents.
• Completion of parish/diocesan safe environment training and background check (required).

Responsabilités

• Teach PSR class (grades 1–8) weekly using approved curriculum or substitute.
• Integrate Scripture, prayer, Catholic doctrine, and Church tradition into lessons.
• Prepare students for sacraments (First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, Confirmation) as applicable.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, faith-filled classroom environment.
• Collaborate with the Coordinator of Religious Education and catechists.
• Communicate with parents about student progress and parish faith formation events.
• Attend catechist trainings, meetings, and retreats as required.
• Set an example of active faith and Catholic values in word and action.

Job Summary

The PSR Teacher leads weekly religious education classes, prepares students for sacraments, and helps them grow in knowledge and love of God and the Catholic Church. This role is vital in fulfilling the parish’s mission to educate and evangelize children in partnership with their families.

Job Responsibilities

• Teach assigned PSR class (typically weekly sessions, grades 1–8) using the approved religious education curriculum OR floating teacher substitute.
• Integrate Scripture, prayer, Catholic doctrine, and Church tradition into each lesson.
• Prepare students for sacraments (e.g., First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, Confirmation) as applicable.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and faith-filled classroom environment.
• Collaborate with the Coordinator of Religious Education and other catechists.
• Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and parish faith formation events.
• Attend catechist training sessions, meetings, and retreats as required.
• Set an example of active faith and Catholic values in word and action.
