Job summary

Taft City School District is seeking a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) to support and guide teachers during ELD curriculum implementation in Taft, CA. The role reports to the site administrator and Director of Education Services and will vary with district needs.

You will guide curriculum implementation, engage students, and collaborate with the Principal to design MTSS processes. A strong teaching background and CA credentials are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid clear California Teaching credential required.
• Previous teaching experience required.
• Fingerprint clearance by FBI and DOJ plus physical clearance required.

• Engage students and promote engagement across lessons.

• Participate in SAT meetings to coordinate intervention services.
• Coach teachers on techniques, reflective practice and leveled questioning.
• Use data to identify students needing Tier 3 intervention and organize groups.

Job description

The TOSA will be working under the direct supervision of the site administrator and Director of Education Services to help support and guide teachers during the ELD curriculum implementation process. Duties will vary depending on the needs of the district and site, but may include:

• Guiding and supporting teachers with overall implementation of ELD curriculum
• Student engagement
• Collaborating with Principal and help design and support the MTSS process
• Participating in Student Assistance Team (SAT) meetings as appropriate/needed to assist in coordination of intervention services for students receiving intervention services
• Coaching teachers on techniques or lessons, reflective thought processes and leveled questioning and curriculum improvement
• Uses data to identify and assess students needing Tier 3 intervention and organize intervention groups and materials.
• Provide professional development (PD) to teachers
• Monitor and collaborate with grade level teams to reflect on practices and data

This position is located in Taft, CA.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Must possess a valid clear California Teaching credential.

Experience:

• Previous teaching experience required.

Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice as well as a physical clearance are conditions of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.

Annually based on 19 steps. (Additional $2,802.40 annually for Master’s degree, additional $4,203.59 annually for Doctorate degree)
