Job summary

Ampersand Therapy seeks a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Winston-Salem, NC for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time 1.0 FTE position focuses on delivering specialized instruction aligned with IEPs and assessments to guide planning.

You will adapt curricula into accessible formats (braille, large print, tactile graphics) and collaborate with families and staff to enable student access and success. Licensure in Visually Impaired is required.

Qualifications

  • NCDPI License in Visually Impaired or area of Exceptional Children's Teaching is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction aligned with IEPs.
  • Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments.
  • Adapt materials into braille, large print, and tactile graphics.
  • Collaborate with educators, staff, and families to support student access.
  • Support independence, assistive technology, and compensatory skills.
  • Write progress reports and maintain compliant documentation.
  • Monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs.
  • Provide instruction across academic subjects and manage behavior.
  • Incorporate technology and resources to enhance learning.
