Job summary

Ampersand Therapy is hiring a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the 2026–2027 school year in the Seattle area. This full-time position is in-person with hours from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and involves traveling between school sites to support students who are blind or visually impaired.

Responsibilities include providing specialized instruction, assessing functional vision, developing IEPs, adapting materials and assistive technology, collaborating with teachers and families, tracking

Qualifications

• Valid state teaching credential with endorsement in visual impairments.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in special education, visual impairments, or a related field.
• Experience working with school-aged students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to students who are blind or visually impaired.
• Assess students’ functional vision and learning-media needs.
• Support instruction in the Expanded Core Curriculum.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs.
• Adapt instructional materials and recommend assistive technology.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, related service providers, and school teams.
• Track student progress and maintain documentation.
• Travel between assigned school sites as needed.
