TEACHER OF BIOLOGY

PAYNE TECH

The Essex County Schools of Technology is seeking a 10‑month Teacher of Biology at Payne Tech for the 2026‑27 school year.

Position Purpose

Under the School Principal's supervision, the Biology Teacher fosters a comprehensive understanding of biological concepts and principles. They engage students through dynamic and interactive lessons, promoting scientific inquiry and critical thinking skills while integrating real‑world applications and current scientific advancements.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Teaching Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility
• Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods
• Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
• Must be resident of New Jersey or attain residency within one year unless exempted under the law

Additional Duties

Terms of Employment

This is a full‑time day position during 10 months of the year. The position is governed by the collective bargaining agreement between the Board of Education and the Essex County Vocational Education Association.

Compensation

2025‑2026 contractual rate.
