This position is funded through exchange for the 25-26 school year.

Summary: The Multi-Classroom Leader 1 (MCL1) is expected to coach 3-6 teachers and teach students through various models. The MCL1 leads a team of teachers and support staff responsible for multiple classrooms, setting roles and goals annually, organizing teaching roles based on strengths, and reviewing student progress to ensure high learning outcomes. The MCL1 collaborates with the team, implementing innovative ideas to improve learning and is accountable for the development of both teachers and students. Adequate teaching/coaching time must be balanced to meet instructional responsibilities. The MCL1 also provides feedback to the principal for team development.

Essential Duties: (Sample duties; may vary by position)

Planning and Preparation:

  • Set high, measurable achievement expectations for all students.
  • Create instructional tools and materials for team use.
  • Clarify content and teaching methods using tools and verbal instructions.
  • Plan lessons backward, align activities and assessments, develop higher-order and personalized instruction, and analyze student work for next steps.

Classroom Environment:

  • Hold students accountable for high behavior and engagement standards.
  • Create conducive physical environments for collaborative and individual learning.
  • Establish a respectful, enthusiastic, and rapport-rich culture.

Instruction:

  • Hold students accountable for high academic standards.
  • Address social, emotional, behavioral, and organizational skills needs.
  • Use influence techniques to engage students.
  • Incorporate questioning, discussion, small-group, and individual instruction.
  • Use assessment data to inform instruction and communicate progress.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high growth with assigned students.
  • Follow observation frameworks and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Spend at least 50% of instructional time coaching team members.
  • Seek feedback for professional growth.
  • Lead team communication with families and collaborate on learning plans.
  • Allocate instructional and administrative duties based on team members' strengths and goals.
  • Model instructional tasks and clarify roles for team development.
  • Evaluate team members for roles and advancement opportunities.
  • Provide feedback to the principal about team members.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge of relevant subject matter
  • At least 4 years of teaching experience with 3 years of high-progress student outcomes
  • Leadership/coaching experience of 1-2 years
  • Proficiency in digital learning tools (may be required)

Licensing / Certification: NC Professional Educators License in the relevant subject and grade level.
