Position Details

Position: Teacher - Middle School Math

FLSA: Exempt

Reports to: Principal

Location: Guardian Catholic School

General Summary

Under the direction of the school principal, responsible for supporting the Diocese of St. Augustine's mission to educate, evangelize, and catechize youth within a Catholic school environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Recognize and support the Catholic mission of the school, aligning speaking, acting, and instructing with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
  2. Collaborate with the principal to foster the faith community, exemplifying Gospel values and participating actively in faith-related activities.
  3. Maintain security and confidentiality of physical and informational resources.
  4. Work professionally and positively with colleagues and students.
  5. Adhere to diocesan and school policies, supporting spiritual, pastoral, and educational missions.
  6. Prepare and implement lesson plans to meet academic goals, integrating Catholic religious curriculum.
  7. Participate in planning and supporting religious and service activities.
  8. Demonstrate knowledge of academic and religious curriculum, organizing materials to engage students effectively.
  9. Establish classroom management practices promoting self-direction and positive behavior, in line with school policies.
  10. Engage in ongoing professional development.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Practicing Catholic in good standing preferred; for some roles, required.
  2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  3. Maintain or be eligible for Florida Professional Educator certification for 7th/8th grade Math and Algebra I.
  4. Obtain Basic Diocesan Ministry Certification within two years.
  5. Respect and promote Catholic teachings and morals.
  6. Valid driver’s license required.
  7. Pass criminal background check and complete Protecting God’s Children workshop.
  8. Proficient in computer technology and school-related software.
  9. Flexible and adaptable in teaching strategies.
  10. Positive, respectful attitude towards colleagues and students.
  11. Willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Additional Skills

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various texts; communicate effectively in writing and speaking.

Mathematical Skills: Competence in basic arithmetic, ratios, percentages, and data interpretation.

Reasoning Ability: Problem-solving, data analysis, and interpretation of technical instructions.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate. Must lift up to 20 pounds. Visual acuity required.

Working Conditions

Moderate noise level, with some evening and weekend hours required. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
