In 6th and 7th Grade STEM Lab, students step into the role of engineering interns to solve real-world problems through hands‑on design projects. Aligned directly with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for Middle School Engineering Design (MS-ETS), this course connects key concepts from physical science, earth systems, and life science to real‑world phenomena based challenges. Throughout the course, students engage in the complete engineering design cycle: defining problems, researching constraints, prototyping solutions, testing models, and iteratively refining their designs. By using an instructional routine of Do–Talk–Read–Write–Visualize while integrating physical building, data analysis, and collaborative troubleshooting, STEM Lab strengthens foundational scientific understanding while fostering critical thinking, collaboration, data analysis, creativity, and technical problem‑solving skills essential for future STEM pathways—while using digital tools like the Futura workspace app and classroom materials. Instruction uses the Do–Talk–Read–Write–Visualize routine.
