Job description

Puget Sound Educational Service District seeks a highly qualified Infant/Toddler Teacher to join our team of educators and work in strong collaborative partnership with the Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher. Job duties include collaboration with the teaching team to provide a developmentally appropriate, integrated curriculum that meets the needs of the classroom community. The teacher with the teaching team implements diverse experiences that support global learning, focusing on the child's background and heritage.

Purpose Statement

The job of Teacher, Infant & Toddler is to provide quality, comprehensive child development and health services to infants, toddlers, and their families, and to encourage parental involvement in educational planning, goal setting, and center activities.

This position reports to the Mentor Teacher.

Essential Functions

  • Support families to meet child guidance and development needs, advocate for parents, and encourage parent involvement.
  • Administer health screenings and developmental assessments to identify needs and develop individual learning plans.
  • Assist children with hygiene routines like hand washing, tooth brushing, and diapering.
  • Attend workshops and training to maintain professional knowledge.
  • Clean facilities, equipment, and playgrounds to ensure a safe environment.
  • Collaborate with families to optimize child development and enhance parenting skills.
  • Conduct home visits and conferences to provide information, resources, and support educational planning.
  • Coordinate activities to ensure availability of materials and personnel.
  • Develop Individualized Educational Plans in compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Embodies principles of our Antiracist Multicultural Organization to meet agency goals.
  • Engage in Active Supervision to ensure safety and positive learning environment.
  • Implement academic, behavioral, health, and nutrition plans to maximize outcomes.
  • Instruct children to support school readiness goals.
  • Maintain records for compliance and communication.
  • Model respectful interaction and social skills.
  • Organize meals and activities appropriate to age groups.
  • Participate in program activities and evaluations for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary planning for children and families.
  • Prepare reports documenting activities and progress.
  • Support parents with guidance on child development and school readiness.
  • Respond to inquiries and emergency situations appropriately.
  • Support curriculum planning and implementation tailored to individual and group needs.
