Providence Public Schools seeks an experienced High School CTE Metal Fabrication and Welding Teacher to join the Providence Career and Technical Academy. The role requires welding instruction expertise and a strong commitment to equity in a diverse urban district.

The candidate must obtain Structured Literacy Awareness within one year of hire and hold appropriate RI certifications. Position reports to the Principal and is contingent upon funding.

Qualifications

• High School/GED diploma required.
• Minimum five years of recent trade based or equivalent full-time employment directly related to welding.
• RI Journeyperson license, RI Contractor’s license, or RI Master Welder license.
• RIDE Certification Requirements: Secondary Grades Career And Technical Education Teacher, Grades 7-12 - Welding.
• AND ESL Certification preferred.
• Structured Literacy Awareness within one year of hire.

Providence Public Schools District (PPSD) seeks an exceptional HIGH SCHOOL CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) METAL FABRICATION AND WELDING TEACHER who is highly qualified and skillful to join our community of teachers, students and stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who seek a challenging yet rewarding teaching experience.

The Rhode Island Right to Read Act was passed in July of 2019 and requires educators to exhibit either proficiency in or awareness of the knowledge and practices of the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy. Please be advised that this position requires Structured Literacy Awareness Level within one year of hire.

We serve approximately 22,000 students at 37 elementary, middle, and high schools. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• High School/GED diploma required
• Possess successful background which ensures capabilities to succeed as an instructor in the field of welding
• Minimum five (5) years of recent (within last seven (7) years) trade based or equivalent full-time employment directly related towelding

RIDE Certification Requirements:

• Secondary Grades Career And Technical Education Teacher, Grades 7-12 - Welding

AND

• Journeyperson license, RI Contractor’s license, or RI Master Welder license

ESL Certification Preferred

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active and engaging learning.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, using relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities and provide appropriate feedback on assignments.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing a warm, welcoming, and culturally relevant environment.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and regularly use data to observe and evaluate student performance and development to adjust teaching strategies.
• Maintain and update accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
• Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues, and families regarding student progress and student needs.
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities to support all students.
• Actively participate in and contribute to department, school, district and parent meetings and professional development.
• Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments according to state standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
